When completing an online enrolment parents/carers will be given the option for their child to attend Special Religious Education. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE/SEE should be given to the school, in writing.
Special Religious Education (SRE)
SRE classes are held at Tathra Public School on Monday afternoons in the school Library. Primary Classes (3-6) are held from 2pm to 2:35pm and Infants (K-2) from 2:40pm to 3:10pm.
Scripture is taught in an assembly style lesson based on Christian Education Publications Connect Curriculum.
The Ministers' Fellowship, representing all the churches in Bega/Tathra area organise and support the teachers and use of this material. Teachers are required to complete training and attend workshops. Christian SRE gives students the opportunity to gain an understanding of Christian belief, question their beliefs and values, engage with ethical issues from a faith perspective and explore how people apply faith to life.
Students are involved in activities appropriate for their age and developmental stage. Lessons are Bible based and involve singing, moving, interactive illustrations, Bible reading, power point presentations, video clips, memory verses, drama and quizzes. More details of the SRE program and can be obtained by looking on the website whysre.com.au.
Students not attending Special Religious Education are given supervised alternative meaningful activities.
